RULES AND REGULATIONS

The "JOURNEY HOME" horse-back ride IS NOT A TRAIL RIDE!!!!. This is an historic, once-in-a-lifetime event. Due to the fact that only five (5) people associated with Headquarters Troop, 9th Memorial Cavalry will be making the entire ride from Phoenix Az.., to New Orleans, Louisiana, WE CANNOT PROVIDE for the general public or participants other than the above mentioned five (5) ANYTHING in the way of Food, Clothing, Transportation, Horse-care, Horse equipment, etc.

The 9th Memorial Cavalry can ONLY provide for the immediate five riders, mounts, vehicles, and spare mounts of our organization.

PLEASE MAKE YOUR OWN ARRANGEMENTS to ride along with us!!! YOU MUST provide for your horse's well-being and YOUR OWN!!!

We of the 9th Memorial Cavalry WELCOME ALL participants but if you must bring an inexperienced rider along, PLEASE, accept the responsibility for that person. We will have two-way communication with at least one of our support vehicles just in case of emergency. Absolutely NO ALCOHOL will be permitted or consumed during this event. THIS IS FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY AND PROTECTION AND THE SAFETY AND PROTECTION OF ALL ANIMALS INVOLVED.

FIREARMS: Weapons of historical signifigance are carried by 9th Memorial Cav. participants. ALL FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL FIREARMS LAWS WILL BE ENFORCED!!

Anyone wishing to carry a firearm MUST OBTAIN PERMISSION, IN WRITlNG from their respective State and Local Law Enforcement officials and said written permission will not exceed Federal Firearms guidelines and/or regulations unless State and/or local guidelines and regulations are more strict. AT NO TIME WILL LIVE AMMUNITION BE PERMITTED unless the individual is an ACTIVE LAW ENFORCEMENT REPRESENTATIVE of the State or local municipality we are moving thru or an authorized/qualified representative of the United States Military or United States Government. All written, signed official permission sheets, (including concealed carry permit holders), will subject to final approval by governing members of "HQ" Troop, 9th Memorial Cavalry thirty (30) days in advance of said participants actual joining of the ride. TO REPEAT: THIS IS NOT A TRAlL/PLEASURE RIDE. The JOURNEY HOME is an historic event to be done as closely as possible to the way the original 9th U.S. Cavalry would have done it. The financial situation of the 9th Memorial Cavalry will not allow us to take on the responsibility of a Trail/Pleasure horseback ride. Therefore; anyone desiring to ride with us to be a part of this historic event MUST PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING:

  1. Horse (horses)
  2. Saddle and tack
  3. Food (for horse and rider)
  4. Transportation (for horse and rider)
  5. Changes of Clothing (depending how long and/or far you intend to ride)
  6. Camping equipment for overnight (if necessary)
