JOIN THE REGIMENT

MEMBERSHIP

PURPOSE - To inform the general public and teach our youth in particular, the history of the 9th United States Regiment of Cavalry, (Colored).

Membership falls in two categories: MILITARY and CIVILIAN Living History:

MILITARY MEMBERSHIP --- Limited to men only. The troopers of the original 9th Cavalry Regiment were all Male African/American. As living historians, we must preserve their history intact.

  • MILITARY MEMBERS - Any men of upstanding character and moral with a desire to teach and/or portray "BUFFALO SOLDIERS" This includes any person with prior military service or is presently on active duty and is serving honorably or has an Honorable Discharge from U.S. Military service.

CIVILIAN MEMBERSHIP -- Unlimited members. We encourage men, women and children; African/American, Hispanic/American, Caucasian/American, Chinese/American and Native/Americans. We are looking for people that are willing to tell the history of their ancestors in relation to the Old West period 1866 to 1902 in helping to build this country.

  • CIVILIAN MEMBERS - Open to all men, women and children of American ancestry. This organization CANNOT ACCEPT APPLICATIONS FROM PERSONS WITH FELONY POLICE RECORDS, DRUG OR ALCOHOL ABUSERS, ETC. We are teachers and we must set the example for our youth.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP--- For individuals/families who are unable to actively participate in educational and public appearances, but feel strongly about supporting this organization in its endeavors.

HONORARY MEMBERSHIP - under certain circumstances.


There is a 90 day probationary period before admittance into full membership. You will be expected to outfit yourself during this time.
